Been trying for three years to get a fashion shoot with J.J. Watt, a defensive lineman with the Houston Texans. He's a great interview, too. Says his mom and girlfriend are the two of the most important women in his life. He eats 375 grams of protein, including a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, EVERY day. Nicest guy. So amazing we pulled this off in less than 12 hrs.

Of the many things my colleague Joey Guerra, the Chronicle's music critic, and I have done together, tonight's Meet the Editors event has to be my favorite. We interviewed each other about our careers and the joys and pains of being journalists. Thank you to everyone - the designers, performers Amanda Solis and Stephanie Rice Music, friends, family (my mom and brother Jon Sewing) and the Chronicle subscribers - who came out to support. Thank you to our amazing boss and cheerleader Melissa Aguilar. This was an awesome night for us.

(I also successfully applied false lashes for the first time and they stayed on the entire event. 😊)  #yearofjoy #joyandjoey
